Lisa and Gunnar met in Gothenburg 1950 while they were still students; she at ‘Slöjdis’ design college and he at ‘Valand‘, the art academy. They married in 1952 and enjoyed a bohemian lifestyle with other artists, actors and musicians in Gothenburg until they moved to Gustavsberg in 1954.

During their 70 years together they practiced their art side by side and took inspiration from each other and their travels together. They spent 1966-67 in the US where they visited many colleagues and had a chance to work in the studios of Sculptor Professor Peter Volkous at Berkeley University. This gave Gunnar a chance to try the medium of clay too. When they returned to Sweden he built a Raku Kiln and they experimented with the ancient Japanese technique. Other inspiring trips went to Paris, Provence, Rome, Greece and Gambia.

They often exhibited their art together, in galleries and museums around Sweden, and lately in Japan. Their mutual understanding and support resulted in a finely tuned body of work.
